The AFC kicks off Wild Card weekend with both Saturday games.

The NFL’s playoffs finally get underway today, as a pair of AFC games kick off the Wild Card round. Oddly, all three AFC games will finish up before the first NFC contest begins, as the third AFC contest is the early game on Sunday.

But first up we have a pair of games on the NBC family of networks today, with the early game broadcast on the major network. The late game between the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs, however, will only be shown nationally on NBC’s streaming service, Peacock, so those wanting to watch that game will need to keep that in mind.

First up is one of two Wild Card games where the road team is favored, with both of those contests coming in the 4-5 games. The Cleveland Browns rolled to an 11-6 record this season behind an excellent defense, despite having a whopping five different quarterbacks start games this season. The fifth was only because the Browns were locked into a playoff spot, but Joe Flacco will be under center again today. He will see rookie C.J. Stroud at quarterback for the Houston Texans, with the rookie and his first-year head coach, DeMeco Ryans, leading the Texans back to the postseason.

In the late game, the Dolphins and Chiefs battle once again after meeting in Frankfurt, Germany back in week 9 of this season. That game saw Kansas City’s excellent defense limit the Dolphins’ explosiveness, holding them to a season-low in points in a 21-14 Chiefs victory. However, tonight’s game in Kansas City should be a frigid one, with temperatures expected to be in the single digits.

Who will move on to next week’s Divisional Playoffs? Tune in and join us here at APC to find out.
