Only Joe Schoen knows for sure

With just a few hours to go until the 2024 NFL Draft, let’s catch up on some last-minute rumors that might involved the New York Giants.

Patriots sticking at No. 3?

If this one is accurate, the Giants will almost certainly not land quarterback Drake Maye.

Todd McShay weighs in

The former ESPN draft guru says “NYG would love to move up for Maye but not likely to happen. If stuck at 6, I keep hearing [Rome] Odunze over [Malik] Nabers.”

I would be just fine with that.

Mel Kiper: Giants a ‘wild card’

Kiper doesn’t know what the Giants will do. He does know what he wants them to do:

Would they really pass on wide receiver Malik Nabers (LSU) at No. 6? Would they take McCarthy if he was still available? Daniel Jones had a dismal season and then tore an ACL in November, but he has never played with a true No. 1 receiver. Taking Nabers would be a way to support him, at least for 2024. They have to put Jones in the best position to succeed. Resetting with McCarthy wouldn’t fix their issue at wide receiver, putting McCarthy in the same disadvantaged position as Jones.

Final mock drafts

Our final mock draft tracker posted Thursday morning.

  • Field Yates of ESPN has the Giants picking Nabers at No. 6. He bypasses J.J. McCarthy to do so.
  • Lance Zierlein of NFL.com has the Giants making the move up to No. 3 for Maye.
  • ‘Good Morning Football’ co-host Peter Schrager says he will “follow the herd” and select Nabers. He also bypasses McCarthy.
