Taking a look at some of the players that are predicted to be available for Cleveland on Day 2 of the NFL draft

The 2024 NFL Draft is finally here and the Cleveland Browns could have some great options to choose from according to ESPN’s predictive analytics feature.

Their first two selections, as of right now, are picks 54 and 85 in the second and third rounds. Andrew Berry has shown that he’s not opposed to moving around in the draft based on his overall value of each selection.

For this exercise, we will act as though the Browns are staying at these two draft slots and diving into some of the players that ESPN predicts to be there.

(The % amount is the chance that each player will likely be available, not the % chance that they’ll be the Browns’ selection).

Round 2, Pick 54

TE Ja’Tavion Sanders, Texas – 86%

WR Malachi Corley, Western Kentucky – 75%

WR Roman Wilson, Michigan – 67%

WR Troy Franklin, Oregon – 60%

OT Kingsley Suamataia, BYU – 58%

TE Ja’Tavion Sanders

Sanders would be an interesting pick at 54, but one that could make sense for the team in terms of some of the things that they want to do on offense in 2024. He could be used in a lot of the same ways that Cleveland uses David Njoku, and having two incredibly versatile tight ends is never a bad thing.

WR Malachi Corley

Corley is the definition of a “weapon” when describing a receiver and what they can do for an offense. His 9.74 YAC average was 1st in college football in 2023 and he’s the type of player that could be deadly with manufactured touches at the next level. He would give the Browns a dangerous playmaker on screens and short-to-intermediate routes from the slot.

WR Roman Wilson

Wilson was the main talking point of this year’s Reese’s Senior Bowl due to his ability to separate and outrun opposing defensive backs. He undoubtedly has the elite speed and athleticism that Cleveland’s been looking for at wide receiver.

WR Troy Franklin

Franklin is a surprisingly polished wideout with the speed and technique to contribute right away on the outside. His consistent ability to outrun and stack defensive backs is what stands out on film. He was 1st in EPA per route run amongst all collegiate wide receivers in 2023 and would give the Browns an explosive playmaker opposite Amari Cooper in 2024.

OT Kingsley Suamataia

Suamataia is a very intriguing player based on his combination of size and athleticism but he could benefit from sitting out a year to refine his mechanics. Cleveland might be an ideal spot for him to land in respect to his development and ability to contribute for the team in year 2.

Round 3, Pick 85

LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Clemson – 77%

G/T Brandon Coleman, TCU – 74%

OT Kiran Amegadjie, Yale – 71%

OT Blake Fisher, Notre Dame – 68%

RB Jaylen Wright, Tennessee – 66%

LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

Trotter Jr. is an instinctive and savvy linebacker with NFL bloodlines who has been incredibly productive in college. His ability to fit the run without error and consistently stay under control at the point of attack could attract defensive coordinators like Jim Schwartz in this range.

T/G Brandon Coleman

Coleman has produced great film at both left tackle and guard while at TCU, with his movement skills being his most sought-after trait. He could be appealing to Cleveland due to his overall success and positional versatility at the next level. Coleman could develop into a starter down the line at either offensive guard or tackle if he works on his technical deficiencies.

OT Kiran Amegadjie

Amegadjie burst onto the scenes in the Ivy League due to his overwhelming length and movement skills. He’s consistently dominated at the collegiate level against inferior competition, but a lot of his traits should transition nicely over to the NFL. He’s another player who could have a future at either guard or tackle in Cleveland.

OT Blake Fisher

Fisher is an athletic, technically efficient lineman who has the tools and ability to play both left and right tackle in the NFL. He needs to work on being more consistent in pass pro but a lot of those mechanics can be easily fixed with coaching. The Browns might see Fisher as a potential replacement at one of the offensive tackle spots down the road.

RB Jaylen Wright

Wright has been rising up draft boards as of late due to his speed, strength, and contact balance. His ability to create big plays on the ground and potential to be a fit in multiple schemes as both a runner and pass-catcher could attract teams like Cleveland in the picks 80-100 range.
