The final pick for the Seahawks in the 2024 NFL Draft is from D-II football.

The Seattle Seahawks closed out the draft with their final selection at No. 206 in the sixth round. After going DT, OG, LB, TE, CB, and another (projected) OG, they elected to go with… Michael Jerrell, OT from Division II University of Findlay to bolster their depth and add some more competition along the offensive line! Jerrell played at right tackle but ESPN’s analysis of him projects Jerrell as a guard.

While late-round picks may not have the household name recognition that some of the rookies can boast, that is only relevant until the games start. I loathe to say it but… look at Brock Purdy.

It is hard to know exactly where he will fit in on this roster, but here is his scouting report:

Michael “Mike” Jerrell was born and raised in West Indianapolis and was a basketball player before he started playing football in sixth grade. He played tight end as a sophomore at Pike High before moving to the offensive line (also played basketball at Pike). A no-star recruit, he had only Division II offers and committed to Findlay (Ohio). He became the school’s starting right tackle in 2020 and started 40 straight games over the last four seasons, staying loyal to Findlay and bypassing FBS transfer opportunities. Jerrell gets out of his stance quickly and uses independent hands, although his punch timing can improve. He does a nice job on counter plays and flashes range, but he will find resistance when attempting to move NFL defenders at the point of attack. Overall, Jerrell will encounter a steep learning curve against NFL power, but he is an agile big man with light feet in his sets and the lengthand toughness NFL teams target in a developmental tackle.

What does he look like on the field? Film may be limited to some extent, as could be expected for players this deep in the draft, but what we can find is encouraging, nonetheless. Mike Macdonald is going to have a roster that looks very different from what we saw in 2023.

And yes, we somehow have highlights of Michael Jerrell thanks to… his personal YouTube page?
