Let’s give you all the particulars
Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve finally made it.
Only in the National Football League is it possible for Christmas to come after New Year’s, but that’s what we’ll be seeing tonight when the 2024 NFL Draft gets underway in Detroit. Our Minnesota Vikings are one of the teams that has had the most focus on them throughout the pre-Draft process, and tonight it all comes to a head with the purple (currently) having two first-round picks, slotted at #11 and #23 overall.
So, how can you be a part of the festivities this evening? Here’s everything you need to know.
What time does Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft get underway?
Coverage of the Draft will be happening on various outlets throughout the course of the day leading up to the start of the selection meeting, but the real festivities get started at 7:00 PM Central on Thursday night. Once we get past the Ceremonial Booing of Roger Goodell, the Chicago Bears will probably be on the clock with the #1 pick sometime around 7:10 PM.
Where can I watch the 2024 NFL Draft on television?
You will have several sources to choose from when it comes to watching the Draft. Coverage will be taking place on ESPN, the NFL Network, and your local ABC affiliate, wherever you might be. You can also get coverage in Spanish on ESPN Deportes if you’d like.
I don’t want to watch on TV. Can I stream the 2024 NFL Draft instead?
Well, it’s 2024, so of course you can! The NFL Network’s coverage will be on NFL.com/watch, as well as through NFL+ and the NFL app. ESPN’s coverage will be available on ESPN+ as well as on YouTube, Twitter/X, and FaceBook. You can also find NFL Draft Center on numerous free streaming services, such as Pluto TV, Roku, Peacock, and the free TV services available on most smart TVs.
What if I want to listen to the 2024 NFL Draft on the radio?
You can do that, too! ESPN Radio will be carrying the Draft, as will Westwood One affiliates around the country. If you have satellite radio, you can find the 2024 NFL Draft on SiriusXM NFL Radio (Channel 88) or ESPN Radio (Channel 80).
When will the Vikings make their first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft?
Well. . .that depends.
If the Vikings stay at #11 and all of the teams in front of them use their full allotment of ten minutes for each pick, the Vikings would likely be on the clock for the first time tonight sometime at around 9:00 PM Central. However. . .if the Vikings trade up as they’ve been rumored to be trying to do for months, they could be on the clock much earlier than that, so your best bet is probably to have your snacks and beverages of choice ready when things get started at 7 and just hang out and wait.
Will there be an awesome podcast/YouTube show that will be doing Vikings-centric coverage of the 2024 NFL Draft?
Why, I thought you’d never ask.

How will The Daily Norseman be covering the 2024 NFL Draft?
The same as always. . .better than everybody else does.
We’ll have Open Threads for each round of this year’s Draft, including multiple Open Threads should things start to get bogged down with activity. That will include Rounds 2 and 3 despite the Vikings not (currently) having a selection in either of those rounds.
We will also be updating our Minnesota Vikings 2024 NFL Draft Tracker as soon as picks are made with quick profiles of all of the players selected as well as the particulars on any trades the Vikings might make over the course of the next three days. After the Draft is over, we’ll have an Undrafted Free Agency tracker that we’ll be updating with the latest and greatest whenever we get wind of players signing with the Vikings in the post-Draft frenzy.
