Michael Pittman Jr. believes Colts can have the best RPO game in the NFL

Michael Pittman Jr. believes in the Colts’ elite talent and potential, especially regarding their dynamic RPO game behind center—which is just getting started.

The Indianapolis Colts have one big believer regarding the dynamic potential of their blossoming RPO game. Specifically, wideout Michael Pittman Jr. is bullish on the likes of starting quarterback Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor effectively utilizing it together behind center next season (via ESPN’s Stephen Holder):

Pittman Jr. is certainly hoping to help matters by deploying his tenacious perimeter blocking and spring-boarding some big plays by setting the edge with either Richardson or Taylor running the football right behind him.

However, it’s scary to think of the sky-high potential between these two elite level athletes complementing one another, keeping defenses off-balance (being forced to make key decisions in split-seconds), and rushing the football at their respective positions with big running lanes (*and when they’re not running, Richardson throwing it)—especially considering the combo of Richardson and Taylor played just two snaps together last season.

Now, the Colts will definitely have some competition for the league’s title of best RPO tandem, as the Philadelphia Eagles just added running back Saquon Barkley in free agency to tag-team with dual-threat quarterback Jalen Hurts—which is also a very dynamic duo.

That being said, Richardson is arguably the greatest athlete to play the quarterback (or at least if you believe in NFL Combine measurables), while he runs faster than Hurts (4.43 forty time compared to a 4.59 forty time) and throws further—and a fully healthy Taylor, is a Top 3 running back in the sport, as shown by his mega-performance in the Colts regular season finale last season.

There’s no reason that Indy cannot be in the conversation, and who knows, maybe even win the RPO crown when it’s all said and done to conclude the 2024 campaign.
