Michael Jordan, nightmare score and mockery

on

Friends show up in times of need, but in Ken Weyand’s case, it seems his friend Michael Jordan made a controversial choice. Ken Weyand, a golf professional, was invited to participate in the Dubai Invitational 2024, but his result was a real nightmare. The 54-year-old Weyand, who had never played on an international circuit before this event, finished with a score of +53, far behind the tour pros.

The reason he was invited was not due to his golf prowess, but rather that he was the manager of Grove XXIII, a VIP club in California owned by Michael Jordan. Jordan sent Weyand to Dubai as a wild card, but the gap between a golf professional and a Tour player was evident. Weyand ranked last with a total score of 337 strokes, well above the course’s par of 71. He scored just two birdies in 72 hours, while winner Tommy Fleetwood won 72 strokes fewer than him.

Michael Jordan, results

The decision to grant Michael Jordan one of the sponsor invitations was not well received by some players on the DP World Tour, with Eddie Pepperell voicing his opinion on the situation, saying: “This shouldn’t be happening, not even to Barbie’s Ken .”

In short, Ken Weyand had a disappointing performance at the 2024 Dubai Invitational, and the controversial invitation from Michael Jordan drew criticism from some players on the tour.

Michael Jeffrey Jordan, known by his initials MJ, is an icon of global sport. Born in New York on February 17, 1963, Jordan was a successful entrepreneur, as well as a former basketball player and former American baseball player.

He is nicknamed “Air Jordan” and “His Airness” for his extraordinary athletic and technical qualities. In 1999, he was named “the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century” by ESPN, a recognition that underlines the incredible impact he has had on the world of sports.

His basketball career began at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he led the team to win the NCAA national championship in 1982. Subsequently, he was selected with the third pick in the 1984 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. In a short time, he became one of the league’s brightest stars, helping spread the NBA’s popularity globally in the 1980s and 1990s.

His successes with the Chicago Bulls are legendary. He won his first NBA title in 1991, and then went on to win two more consecutive titles in 1992 and 1993, achieving a three-peat. He subsequently temporarily retired from basketball to pursue a brief baseball career, but returned to the Bulls in 1995, leading them to three consecutive championships in 1996, 1997 and 1998.

Jordan also represented the United States national basketball team, winning four gold medals, including two at the Los Angeles 1984 and Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games.

His influence on sports was so significant that Nike dedicated a line of basketball shoes called “Air Jordan” in his honor, introduced in 1984. His legacy in the world of sports and entrepreneurship remains unquestionably extraordinary.
