Matt Hardy replaces ‘injured’ Nic Nemeth at TNA Under Siege

on

There is a broken one in the Impact Zone, but it isn’t Matt Hardy I’m referring to. He was there as well in his Broken persona, however, it was Nemeth whose body was broken in the main event segment on Thursday night Impact (Apr. 25, 2024).

The show started with Nemeth addressing his loss to Moose when challenging for the TNA World Championship at Rebellion. The Wanted Man had no excuses. He left it all out there in the ring and failed. Nemeth didn’t know what’s next. He felt broken inside.

Say his name, and he appears. TNA believes in Matt Hardy. The Broken one entered on stage to cheer up Nemeth. Hardy pointed out the fluky pinfall with Nemeth’s shoulder off the mat. He encouraged Nemeth to climb back for another world title shot, except it won’t be against Moose. Hardy plans to claim the gold for himself.

The System came out talking smack, which inspired Nemeth to beat the stuffing out of Eddie Edwards. That match was booked for the TV main event.

Fast forward to the end of the show. Nemeth was faster to the draw on a superkick duel with Edwards. Brian Myers decided to create a distraction by shoving Ryan Nemeth, who was seated in the front row. Security intervened to hold back Ryan. That’s when Moose jet into the ring to blast Nemeth with the world title belt. Edwards finished with a Boston Knee Party.

The System assaulted Nic after the match as security still held Ryan at bay. Moose viciously executed a conchairto style of move with the steel chair around Nic’s neck.

TNA previously announced The System versus Nemeth & Speedball Mountain as a trios bout for Under Siege on May 3. That match was now in question. After the show in the trainer’s room, the doctor declared Nemeth unfit for that contest. Hardy sidled in to offer his services as a replacement. Enjoy this clip for the silly word games from Hardy and Santino Marella.

Hardy’s appearance on television seemed lackluster with no firm direction set. Now, the pieces have come together for a clearer picture. If Hardy can earn the winning pin at Under Siege, it would boost him one step closer to challenging Moose for the world title.

What’s your take on how TNA massaged Hardy into the main event scene?
