Leaked Loki Fortnite Cosmetics Got Decrypted

on

A few days ago, some new Loki Fortnite cosmetics got leaked. The titular character, as well as his alternate timeline variant Sylvie, were shown to be getting skins at some point soon. It was a little late since the second season of the Disney+ show finished airing on November 10, 2023, but Epic Games still had plans to bring in the characters and a variety of cosmetics for them. These were leaked and therefore could not be 100 percent validated, but they showed up in the game files. That’s usually a good indicator, but Epic seems to have done something curious in the wake.

Loki Fortnite Cosmetics Show Up Decrypted After Leak

Most of the time, leaked cosmetics are encrypted within the game files. Whether by using random codenames or other forms of obfuscation, it’s very hard for anyone who isn’t a data miner or leaker to discover what is actually coming to Fortnite. Most of the time, it can be seen through pretty easily, but it’s more privacy than just revealing anything and everything. The Loki cosmetics, which include backblings and pickaxes as well as an emote, were encrypted. That is, until they randomly weren’t.

Leaker Shiina BR found the cosmetics originally and shared them to X. The next update on the skins was not that they were finally in the Item Shop. Instead, it was that they had been decrypted anyway. The files that formerly had a layer of protection around them were out in the open. This is usually what happens when Epic Games officially confirms a collaboration or they show up in the game itself. That didn’t happen, making Epic’s decision an interesting one.

This doesn’t really change much about the skins. They’re still probably coming to the game. In fact, a decryption might make it a little more realistic to imagine. Loki Fortnite skins didn’t show up in the Item Shop rotation last night. However, the fact that Epic did something to the files suggests that they’re still planning to. It may take a little while since Star Wars is currently dominating the collaboration section of the shop, but they should be out sooner rather than later. Marvel fans can then rejoice and add another skin to the growing list of crossovers with the comic book brand.
