Kendrick and Drake didn’t show up on NXT, but Sexxy Red was watching

Earlier in the week, with the hip-hop world sifting through the wreckage of the Kendrick Lamar/Drake battle(s) and everyone else trying to get caught up on what the hell happened between two of 21st century music’s biggest stars, Shawn Michaels invited the two MCs to WWE NXT to settle their beef.

Lamar dropped the name of Michael’s finisher into one of his Drake disses, “Not Like Us”, when he rapped, “Put the wrong label on me, Imma get ‘em dropped/Sweet Chin Music and I won’t pass the aux” — so there was at least some context to Shawn’s attempt to get NXT a little promotional rub from the latest big pop culture moment. Plus, HBK can likely bond with Kdot since he knows a thing or two about being in a blood feud with a Canadian.

Anyway… you will not be surprised to learn that neither Drake nor Kendrick showed up on NXT last night (May 7). But the brand did have a rap star tuned in for the drama that unfolded between its champion Trick Williams and The Meta-Four. After it was revealed that Noam Dar’s foot was under the ropes when Williams pinned him in the run-up to winning the title, and intimated that Lash Legend is hooking up with Trick Willy (in kayfabe; the internet’s had them as a real world item since New Year’s)…

… Sexxy Red tweeted:

Red, a St. Louis rapper who broke big last year when her song “Pound Town” went viral, seems to be a wrestling fan. After seeing a video on X edited so that it looked like Jey Uso was hyping the crowd to her hit “SkeeYee”, she asked WWE to bring her in:

She’s also rapped over Michael’s entrance music.

And while she’s not Drake or Kendrick, she has collaborated with the former on multiple occasions, which earned her a mention in another of the latter’s diss tracks (“Euphoria”, which includes the line “When I see you stand by Sexxy Red, I believe you see two bad bitches”). So she and H-B-Shizzle can bond over that I guess.

Don’t be surprised if it happens, either. Trick and Noam both replied to Red…

Your move, Michaels.
