Kaitlyn Carnicella for Auburn named Freshman of the Week for the second time in a row

Auburn University player Kaitlyn Carnicella was named SEC Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week, as reported on the Auburn website.
 
Carnicella followed up last weekend by winning both of her singles fights at the ITA Kickoff Weekend. She defeated UCSB’s Valentina Khrebtova with a score of 6-2, 6-3. On Sunday against the UCF No. 23, Carnicella came from behind after losing the first set against Jaleesa Leslie.

She got the 4-1 team victory for the Tigers which earned the team participation in the 2023 ITA Indoor Championships.

Auburn head coach Caroline Lilley, talked abiut the performance of the women’s team at the ITA Kickoff Weekend: “First, we are very proud of our team! The poise, the grit- this group has intangibles nobody can teach. From the start of the doubles to the end of the singles, we remained resolute in our pursuit of earning windows of opportunity. Their desire to be great in the little things, understanding one percent improvements over time differentiate, is the foundation of everything they do.”
