Agent Don Yee also represents former NFL quarterback Tom Brady and current Broncos head coach Sean Payton.

Ever since the Chargers fired head coach Brandon Staley a little over two weeks ago, fans have been waiting patiently for any and all information that could a potential new head coach to the vacant job. I don’t think it should come as a surprise that Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh is under the microscope of just about everyone who dons a lightning bolt whether for professional or casual reasons. That’s why a news drop late last night likely grabbed your interest if you’re one of those aforementioned fans.

Per NFL insider Adam Schefter, Harbaugh has recently hired football agent Don Yee to represent him. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Yee also represents Tom Brady and the Broncos’ Sean Payton.

This is most certainly an event to keep eyes on seeing as Harbaugh is likely set for a whirlwind next few months following the official end to his 2023 season with the Wolverines. He’s got a massive contract extension to mull over from the school, one that includes a no-NFL clause for at least one year, while he’s expected to be courted by more than a handful of NFL teams looking to grab what many consider to be the best coach on the market.

Harbaugh has ties to the Chargers as a player. He spent two seasons with the Bolts (1999-2000) where the team went 8-8 and 1-15 during that span. Harbaugh was signed as a backup to Ryan Leaf but found himself in the starting role when the latter suffered a season-ending injury. He went 6-6, throwing 2,761 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. In 2000, while playing in a rotation with Leaf and Moses Moreno, Harbaugh through for 1,416 yards, eight touchdowns, and 10 picks.

Harbaugh is currently in Los Angeles getting ready to lead the Wolverines against he Alabama Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl on Monday night. With him in town already, don’t be surprised to hear that he met with the Chargers at least once this past week.
