Atlanta FaZe On White-Hot Streak As CDL Major III Approaches

on

There are just a couple of weeks left until Major III lands in Toronto, and Atlanta FaZe is shaping up to secure back-to-back championships. At Major II in Miami, the team lifted the trophy after a dominant performance, but this dynasty of a squad is on a white-hot streak and proving why it’s the number one contender for COD Champs 2024. This weekend, the team laid waste to Toronto Ultra and the Subliners, two of the toughest teams in the CDL, and it acted like there were no challenges whatsoever.

In the last thirteen matches for Atlanta FaZe, the squad has lost just one series. That streak includes the Major II grand final fixture against OpTic Texas, which saw FaZe secure its first chip in more than 400 days. It’s a comeback story for the most dominant team in Call of Duty esports, that’s for sure.

From One to Another

Atlanta FaZe is easily the number one contender to win the biggest prize during Major III in Toronto. Since making the change that brought Drazah on board, the squad has looked super-sharp, even if some claim that the Alaskan gamer is carried more often than he should be. The core make-up of Simp, aBeZy, and Cellium is tried, tested, and utterly perfect, with Simp and aBeZy being one of the longest-partnered duos in esports.

This weekend, FaZe decimated both NYSL and Toronto Ultra, dropping just one map out of six. No other team has put up these numbers during the Major III qualifiers, and some are having a stinker. For instance, the Subliners – last year’s three-time champion team – sits on a record of 1 – 3. That’s how you end up in the lower bracket during a Major, fighting desperately to win every single series.

Boston Breach’s awful form continues, with the squad being the only team during this stage to have not secured a single win. Breach has now lost six Search and Destroy match-ups back to back, and out of the team’s last ten matches, only two ended in a win. Despite the losses, Boston remains persistent, and the last four series have ended with a 2 – 3 scoreline – so the determination is there, they just can’t close it out during those final Search and Destroy rounds.

Future Bouts

There’s a stacked calendar ahead in the run-up to Major III in Toronto. Most of them are easy enough to predict, but we could see a little underdog spirit rise next weekend. For instance, the Carolina Royal Ravens, a team proving to be a thorn in the side of the top-tier squads, is facing off against Atlanta FaZe – there’s room there for a little upset to be dished out.

Boston Breach has an opportunity to end its losing streak by taking down OpTic Texas in monumental fashion, and we could see Rokkr top up the mixed back of results it’s carrying around with a win against Toronto Ultra. Stranger things have happened – why not predict a weekend where the top four teams in the CDL standings get broken down?
