Jannik Sinner said he was happy with the performance shown in his Miami Open second round match. The Italian defeated Laslo Djere with the final score of 6-4, 6-2, gaining the pass for the third round of the tournament. At the end of the match, the Italian analyzed the match on the Tennis Channel microphones.

He told: “I give myself a 7 for the match done. It wasn’t easy to play with the pitch conditions, it was very windy and on the one hand you had the sun in your eyes as you served. The race was a bit of a rollercoaster ride but I’m glad I won.”

On the conditions between the two US Masters 1000, Indian Wells and Miami, he underlined: “The plane that brought me here was a bit late and I wasn’t able to go to bed before 3 in the night between Sunday it’s Monday. So I only had three days to try the course: I saw that the surface is very fast, even faster than last year.”

Sinner came back to talk about Alcaraz

The Italian tennis player then came back to talk about to the semifinal loss in California against the winner of the competition Carlos Alcaraz: “I had my chances, especially in the first set. I had a break point first, then a set point too. I then thought back to a point that he won thanks to a drop shot, I think it was a shot that made him start the second set in a more decisive and confident way.”

The world number 11 athlete concluded on the Spaniard: “In the end it’s all part of the game. It’s a pleasure to compete at a high level and I can’t wait to play more matches like this. He’s obviously a great player, yes deserves to be number 1 in the world.

We are both still young, he has already won a lot while I don’t have any major trophies yet. I hope to play many more games against him, maybe even here in Miami. I think he makes me a better player, because when we play we always have good battles, after which I can look back and see what I can improve.”
