Jofra Archer, Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes misses out MI vs CSK clash

The ‘El Clasico’ of the Indian Premier League (IPL), a highly anticipated clash between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI), has been impacted by an injury crisis. Three England players could not participate in the game, including two key all-rounders, Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali from CSK, and frontline pacer Jofra Archer from MI.

During the coin toss, the Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni revealed that Stokes suffered from an injury, while Moeen was unavailable for the contest. In light of these absences, Ajinkya Rahane, Dwaine Pretorius and Sisanda Magala were included in the playing XI to replace them.

“We have a few injury concerns, Stokes has an injury, and Moeen is not well. Ajinkya and Pretorius are playing in place of them,” Dhoni said at the toss.

Similarly, Rohit Sharma, leader of Mumbai, explained that Archer’s absence is a precautionary measure due to a fitness concern. South African batter Tristan Stubbs was included in the playing XI along with Jason Behrendorff.

“We would’ve fielded as well. It’s a good pitch to bat and will be a good contest between bat and ball. The mood has been upbeat, and hopefully, we can correct the things we didn’t do in Bangalore. One injury – not an injury but just a precaution – Jofra is not playing, but we’ve got other guys to do the job for us. Great feeling to be back at the Wankhede,” said Rohit.
