Former WWE star Virgil is asking for help this winter

Virgil has set up a crowdfunding campaign to help pay for clothes and other expenses.

Former WWE star Virgil, real name Mike Jones, has had a rough go of it in the past couple of years. In April 2022, he suffered a pair of strokes and was diagnosed with dementia. A month later, Virgil announced that he had colon cancer.

Now, Virgil, along with a friend, has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help him get through the winter. The news was shared by the social media account for Paul Orndorff.

From Virgil’s GoFundMe page:

“Hi, we are trying to help raise at least $400 to help get more clothes and toiletries and with other expenses. As you know Mike was diagnosed with Dementia last may [sic]. Any help would be appreciated. Anyone that donates $25 or more we have some autographed pictures we like to send out .

“I like to say thank you and Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah [sic]”

Virgil began his career in the mid-’80s as Soul Train Jones. A couple of years later, he received his big break in WWE, where he became the bodyguard for “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase. The two had a famous breakup in 1991 that led to Virgil’s highest point as a singles star as he defeated DiBiase for the Million Dollar Championship at SummerSlam that year. The two later reunited in World Championship Wrestling as members of the New World Order.

Last year, Virgil discussed his struggles and the pain he was in, telling The Hannibal TV, “I’m just trying to fight through it, man.”
