Esports World Cup Will Feature Biggest Prize Pool In Esports History

on

It was revealed earlier today that the upcoming Esports World Cup, due to take place in Riyadh, will feature a record-breaking prize pool. There’s an immense line-up of titles being played at the event, which explains the monumental cash pot, but it’s still a staggering figure. In a press release, representatives of the Esports World Cup revealed that the pool will tally up to more than $60 million, shattering previous records set by Gamers8 and The International.

It’s indicative of Saudi Arabia’s investment in esports and gaming, which has long been an issue for some members of the community. Regardless of any underlying intentions, the fact remains that the Esports World Cup is shaping up to be historic and nothing short of incredible.

It All Starts Here

This will be the first-ever Esports World Cup to take place, replacing the Gamers8 event that took place in the region last year. Organisations will be able to compete in various esports titles, earning points across the board that’ll rank them in the grand scheme of things. That’s the basis for ‘The Club Championship’ portion of the event, which has reserved $20 million to distribute among the top sixteen organisations at the event taking part in a multi-game competition.

Here’s the full list of games being played at the Esports World Cup, including the most recent addition, Apex Legends:

  • Counter-Strike 2
  • League of Legends
  • Dota 2
  • EA FC
  • Apex Legends
  • Fortnite
  • Honor of Kings
  • ML:BB
  • Overwatch 2
  • PUBG Mobile
  • Rainbow Six: Siege
  • PUBG
  • Street Fighter 6
  • Tekken 8

In a statement, the CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, Ralf Reichert, addressed the news regarding the prize pool:

‘Setting the record for largest esports prize pool is a remarkable achievement, but what I’m most proud of is the positive message this sends to the wider esports and gaming community. More than $60 million is a testament to our investment in the future of global esports, a commitment to esports fans who deserve exceptional events and an extension of our mission to create meaningful competitive opportunities with life-changing prize pools for esports athletes everywhere.’

The official schedule for the Esports World Cup hasn’t been confirmed, but we know it’ll take place in Riyadh this summer. It’s the single biggest event in the history of gaming and esports, and there is something for everyone, regardless of whether you like battle royale games, racing sims, fighting games, or shooters.
