‘Daniil Medvedev’s attitude was so good’, says expert

on

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev shines again. After a rather complicated start to the season, the 2021 Us Open champion is smiling again and has won two consecutive tournaments, first in Rotterdam and this week in Doha. It has been an excellent week and Daniil defeated Andy Murray in the final by a double 6-4. The match was never in contention, with the Brit tired after an impressive tournament punctuated by several battles, and the Russian returning to a stable position in the world Top Ten. Daniil spoke at the post-match press conference and commented on the match he won against Murray: “It’s great to play a tournament for the first time and win the first time. It’s been a tough week, but I’m satisfied with my game. I have finally recovered my level of play and I feel confident in my shots again. Everything changes very quickly in tennis and you have to take advantage of those weeks in which you have confidence and can give your best. I wanted to prepare myself as well as possible for the American tour and I needed to play matches to be at my best level.” Now Daniil has no intention of stopping and is ready for the tournament in Dubai, where he will start as the third seed in the tournament. It’s an interesting draw and Daniil could catch (once again) his friend and great rival Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals. On this the tennis player commented: “I have not seen the draw, I did not do it in the Rotterdam and Doha tournaments and I want to continue with this tradition. I am aware that it is going to be a difficult tournament, all the matches are going to be difficult, but I want to be physically prepared and be at 100%.”

Medvedev’s attitude was good

American leading sports journalist Steve Flink thinks that Daniil Medvedev’s attitude was “good” during his Qatar Open title win. “What I liked most about him wasn’t just that he put back the brick wall on the back of the court and said ‘You are not getting anything out of my reach and I am giving you nothing’, but that he, his attitude was so good, it was no more this kinda looking over his coach, his wife and whining and complaining and acting like the victim,” FlinkĀ said. “He just got over that and he said after the final that he wasn’t happy with the balls, now this is not somebody who is complaining, he just won the title. But they changed the balls. He didn’t like them for whatever the reasons and yet obviously didn’t let that get into his way. It’s going to be interesting to follow him now that he has got himself back in kind of a winning mode,” he added.
