The craziness is about to begin with the Chargers officially in their 2024 offseason.

Monday, the day after the 2023 NFL regular season ended, brought with it the litany of reports regarding interview requests for those teams who are in the market for new coaches and general managers. Unfortunately for the Chargers, they’re in the market for both!

Over the coming weeks, expect to hear reports on all the big names, including Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh, Bill Belichick, Ben Johnson, and Mike Macdonald, as well as some names not yet heard connected to the Chargers.

Below, we’ll be keeping a tracker of all the rumors and reports coming out about the Chargers and their search for their next head coach!

Monday, January 7th

  • The Chargers have requested an interview with 49ers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. Wilks coached defensive backs for the Chargers from 2009 to 2011. Safety Eric Weddle has a career-high seven interceptions in 2011 and was a First-Team All-Pro under Wilks.

  • The Chargers have requested interviews for both Lions coordinators, offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, for their head coach vacancy. Johnson led the Lions offense to third in total yards per game and fifth in total points. Glenn built the Lions into the league’s second-best rushing defense.
