Some tight end help.

With the 115th pick in the NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals landed Iowa Hawkeyes tight end Erick All.

What are the Bengals getting in All?

All stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs in at 252 points. While not ultra-athletic, All was effective when he got the ball in space and frequently forced multiple defenders to bring him down. All missed all but three games of the 2022 season with a back injury before transferring to Iowa.

After transferring to Iowa, he tore his ACL in October of the 2023 season and is still rehabbing from that. Pro Football Focus had him with a 72.4 grade last season. His best was a 76.8 mark in 2021.

Here’s how PFF had All lining up over his last three years in college.

PFF charted just three pass-blocking snaps for All in 2023, so he’s rarely asked to contribute there. However, he did log 130 run-blocking snaps, so he’s someone who can help protect the edge.

What will All do for the Bengals?

Starting out, All will be effectively a depth piece. With Mike Gesicki in Cincinnati, he will be the primary receiving threat at tight end, with Drew Sample the primary blocker. If All’s rehab is going well and he stays healthy, it wouldn’t be a shock if he became the third tight end rather quickly.

Louis Riddick said if All can stay healthy, he could become a George Kittle-type player, which I’m sure we would all be happy with.

The Bengals took a risk on Jermaine Burton in the third round when it comes to character, but if it pays off, the Bengals may have found a star on Day 2. With All, there are no character concerns but an injury concern.

If All is able to stay on the field, it looks like the Bengals have some big-time potential to work with as they may look to find Joe Burrow a long-term tight end solution instead of one-year mercenaries season after season.
