At the opening of the 24th day of Ligue 1, Olympique Lyonnais moved on the lawn of Auxerre still without Laurent Blanc, sick. His right arm Franck Passi therefore took, once again (after the success against Lens), place on the bench of the Lyonnais who presented themselves in 5-2-3 with the return of Moussa Dembélé in the starting eleven. The French striker took advantage of the injury to Alexandre Lacazette and was supported by Rayan Cherki and rookie Amin Sarr. In form for a few matches, the Rhodaniens hoped to continue to take points against an Auxerre formation 19th at kick-off and which therefore absolutely had to win so as not to sink a little further into the bottom of the table.

Unlike the usual Friday evening matches in Ligue 1, this poster started at a very good pace with two teams who did not hesitate to attack. The Auxerrois lit the first fuse in this match but it was OL who got the biggest chances in the first half with a fine header from Diomande (17th). Dominating, the Lyonnais ended up opening the scoring and it was Moussa Dembélé who shook the net. The one who had not scored since September 3 was at the reception of a cross from Tolisso (1-0, 35th). A goal which rewarded a serious first period for OL against an interesting team from Auxerre, but which lacked precision in the last gesture.

OL lost everything in two minutes

But when they returned from the locker room, Christophe Pelissier’s men came back very strong and it only took a minute to see Zedadka fall into the area after a foul from Lukeba. Despite the pain of the right side of Auxerre, the referee did not whistle. It was only gone since in the process, it was Massengo who collapsed in the surface. This time, Mr. Brisard did not flinch and whistled a penalty. A penalty transformed by Gaëtan Perrin and which Anthony Lopes could probably have stopped (1-1, 50th). In the process, carried by its public, the AJA reversed the meeting thanks to Jubal. After a corner deflected by Da Costa, Jubal, all alone and dropped by Diomande, placed an unstoppable header (2-1, 52nd). OL were knocked out standing.

A stunning scenario for an unrecognizable OL team in the second act. Less technically precise, less solid in the duels, the formation of Franck Passi no longer managed to obtain a single opportunity in this meeting and left spaces for the opposing attackers. Auxerre also missed several times the goal of the break thanks to the vigilance of Lopes. Faced with a good defensive block, OL couldn’t do it anymore and conceded another defeat. It is therefore a very big setback for Lyon who remained on 3 wins in their last 4 matches. For its part, Auxerre obtains three precious points (the club had not won for 3 and a half months) which allow it to return to a point of the first non-relegation, while waiting for the other meetings of the weekend.
