Would you be in favor of the NFL moving to an 18-game regular season in the future?

In a recent press conference at the annual Spring League Meetings for the NFL, commissioner Roger Goodell was asked about the potential for an 18-game regular season in the long-term future.

“The key thing for us is looking at making sure we continue to do the things that make our game safer,” Goodell said. “Seventeen games is a long season, so we want to make sure we look at that and make sure that we continue the safety efforts.”

To be clear, this would likely not be anytime soon, but Goodell did admit it is something the league is going to consider down the line.

Today’s Question of the Day is:

Are you in favor of a possible 18-game season?

My Answer: If the tradeoff is the loss of a preseason game, then I am not in favor of adding an 18th regular season game. At least not until rosters have been expanded.

The NFL season is already a long and grueling season, And for a league that is constantly talking about how much it values player safety, I am not sure adding another regular season game makes much sense.

To be perfectly honest, I was fine with 16 regular season games. And I feel like I love football as much as the next person does. Maybe it was the way a 13-3 record looked in the standings.

How about you? Are you in favor of the NFL possibly adding an 18th game to the regular season in the future? Let us know in the comments by scrolling down to the bottom of the page.
