‘A chance’ Adoree’ Jackson can return for New York Giants vs. Colts

Coach Brian Daboll said Monday Jackson is progressing and might practice later this week

There is “a chance” that cornerback Adoree’ Jackson could return to action for the New York Giants on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, according to Giants head coach Brian Daboll.

Jackson, the Giants’ best cornerback, has been out of action since suffering a sprained MCL while returning a punt Week 11 against the Detroit Lions. He has now missed five games.

“I think Adoree’s making progress in the right direction,” Daboll said during a Monday Zoom call. “Where that is, well see by the end of the week. But, definitely he’s making progress.”

The Giants don’t hold a full practice until Wednesday, and Daboll was not ready to commit to Jackson even being on the field for practice on Wednesday.

‘We’ll see on that,” Daboll said. “Each week he’s gotten progressively better. We’ll see where he’s at with the trainers and stuff, the rehabbing that he’s doing. By the end of the week, well see. Maybe he will, maybe he won’t. I think it’s too early to give you that answer.”

Daboll did not seem as optimistic about Xavier McKinney, who continues to miss time after suffering a hand injury that required surgery during a bye week accident in Cabo. McKinney has missed the last seven games.

The only injury of note coming out of Saturday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings was an ankle injury that sidelined edge defender Azeez Ojulari.

“I think Azeez just got treatment the last couple of days,” Daboll said. “We’ll see where he’s at tomorrow, the next day, all the way through Friday. We’ll see if he’s able to go.”
