The PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2022 Grand Finals is set to happen from Jan. 6 to 8. Sixteen of the world’s best teams will compete for the title of world champions and a share of the $4 million prize pool.
The event will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Southeast Asian country is one of the biggest for PUBG Mobile and it’s about time that the world championship comes down to the region. Adding to the excitement, it will be open to a live audience – making it the first PMGC to do so.
PMGC 2022 Grand Finals will feature a live audience with tickets going on sale soon
The PMGC 2022 Grand Finals will happen at the Jakarta International Expo. Tencent has said that up to 4,000 fans can attend the three-day event live. Early bird tickets are currently on sale with a 50 percent discount.
The 16 teams in the Grand Finals are as follows:

- iNCO Gaming
They will compete across 18 matches (six per day) to crown a champion. Fans unable to attend the event can catch the action live on the PUBG Mobile Esports YouTube channel.
The first-ever live audience at the PUBG Mobile Global Championship
The PMGC was launched in 2020 to replace the PMCO Global Finals as the world championship for PUBG Mobile esports. However, the tournament hasn’t been able to be properly held owing to the COVID-19 pandemic over the past two years.
The 2020 edition was the biggest mishap for PUBG Mobile esports. The PMGC 2020 Grand Finals were set to happen at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. While it wasn’t open to a live audience, it was exciting for fans to catch some LAN action live from their homes.
All teams had flown out to Dubai for the event. However, just a few days before the Global Finals, a few players tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, all teams had to play remotely from their hotel rooms. The Coca-Cola Arena was put to good use, though, as the casters were the only ones present there to host the event.
Tencent didn’t take any risks for the PMGC 2021, however, with the event completely happening online. A few teams had to travel to other countries, though, to reduce ping disparity between players from around the world.
