Is Fortnite Crew worth it?

on

Fortnite Crew is the popular Battle Royale title’s subscription service available to players everywhere. Launched in December 2020, Fortnite Crew allowed players to become members of the no-commitment service for $11.99 USD per month. Those who enlisted would receive an exclusive cosmetic set alongside various other offerings. While Fortnite Crew is intriguing, it may only be for some.

The ultimate question is; is Fortnite Crew worth it? Today, we’ll review the various perks we have seen since 2020 and conclude whether this service warrants your $11.99 monthly.

Fortnite Crew offers a unique cosmetic set each month

This subscription service begins with cosmetic items that alternate each month. Since December 2020, Fortnite Crew has introduced 24 new skins. These outfits and accessories include original concepts, Marvel and DC characters, and fresh takes on already-established Fortnite skins. The sets typically feature a base character outfit, alternate style, pickaxe, back bling, wrap, loading screen, and lobby tracks on occasion.

There’s no rhyme, reason, or consistency to the Fortnite Crew sets. The inaugural December 2020 skin was Galaxia, which many believe is still the best. However, some other standouts are Snow Stealth Slone, Wolverine Zero, Loveless, Red Claw, and the Inkquisitor

Ultimately, the skin aspect of Fortnite Crew comes down to the individual. Does the cosmetic outfit interest you? Is it one you must have in your collection? These are the questions you must answer when considering a Fortnite Crew subscription. For reference, Fortnite cosmetic sets can range anywhere between 1,200 and 2,400 V-Bucks ($12 to $24 USD).

Consistent V-Bucks and the seasonal Battle Pass

After considering the outfit selection each month, then comes the V-Bucks and Battle Pass. Without fail, Epic Games has offered 1,000 V-Bucks, and the seasonal Battle Pass every month via Fortnite Crew. The Battle Pass (950 V-Bucks/$9.50 USD) and 1,000 V-Bucks ($7.99 USD) would normally cost you $17.49.

The V-Bucks and Battle Pass represent a good value when looking at Fortnite Crew’s $11.99 per month cost. Any Fortnite player who plays often and enjoys purchasing item shop skins and completing the Battle Pass would find this a no-brainer.

It’s worth noting that you can only utilize the Battle Pass perk via Fortnite Crew once every few months because of the game’s seasonal cycle. Still, there is undeniable value in these two bonuses.

Additional offerings via Fortnite Crew

Bonus Legacy Back Bling

While the cosmetic set, V-Bucks, and Battle Pass have remained Fortnite Crew staples since December 2020, Epic Games has occasionally included additional benefits. In Chapter 2 Season 7, players could unlock the fully customizable Protocol Legacy Back Bling, adding a new style each month that you stayed a subscriber.

More recently, Epic added the Photonic Striker Pickaxe as a bonus for subscribers. This item follows the same “legacy” concept as the Back Bling. Other perks in months past included a Spotify Premium trial and the occasional Fortnite Save the World bonus.

Quantifying these one-off offerings is challenging since they vary each month. In any case, you can review the list and decide whether you should enlist in the subscription service.

The verdict

The original Fortnite Crew pack

So, is it worth the $11.99 per month price tag? It ultimately comes down to the individual, as it’s impossible to say for sure that it’s worth it for everyone. Someone playing Fortnite for more than four hours per day might find the subscription service worthwhile.

Fortnite Crew is designed for someone who enjoys collecting skins, spending V-Bucks, and completing the Battle Pass. The value represented by the free V-Bucks and Battle Pass alone might be worth considering. Also, the no-commitment aspect makes it easy to cancel and resubscribe if you want to pick and choose.

You can safely pass and not miss a beat if you couldn’t care less about outfits, V-Bucks, and the Battle Pass. It’s really only worth it if you are interested in all three aspects of the service. Epic Games is constantly altering what’s available via Fortnite Crew, so you may want to keep tabs in case they add more perks or drop the price. You can visit Epic’s website for more information!
