What did everyone think?

The results are in for our SB Nation Reacts poll from last night about the two selections the Minnesota Vikings made in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, so let’s take a look at what everyone thinks.

We’ll start with. . .well, the player the Vikings took first. The Vikings selected Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy with the tenth overall pick after a small trade up with the New York Jets, marking the first time the franchise has ever used a top ten Draft choice on a quarterback. So, what did our readers think of the pick?

Yeah. . .we happy.

Of those who responded to our survey, 62% of them said that this was an “A” pick from the Vikings, while another 29% gave it a “B” grade. That’s a full 91% of the folks who responded to our survey who believe the selection was an above-average one. Given that they got a player that they liked at a position that they needed, it’s hard to argue against giving the pick a good grade.

And if you thought people were happy with the McCarthy pick, they seem to be even happier with the selection of Dallas Turner, which happened just seven picks later after another move up the board.

In this case, a full 84% of those who responded to our poll question think the Turner selection merited an “A,” while another 12% gave it a “B,” meaning that 96% of our respondents thought the pick was an above average one. Turner was largely considered the best edge player in this Draft throughout the pre-Draft process, and given the need at the position for the Vikings it’s pretty impressive that they managed to wind up with him. Sure, they gave up a bit to get him, but if he works out nobody’s going to care about that.

Thanks to everyone who voted in our SB Nation Reacts survey about the Vikings’ two first-round picks!
