As for whether Jett Lawrence toyed with the idea of letting his brother Hunter win the Denver Supercross, he said that it crossed his mind a couple times and that following Hunter around wasn’t cool. The two brother just circulated the track, with no one really chasing them. Iit might have been a great optic for Honda, but it was a boring race as Jett rode conservatively behind his brother, not close enough to put added pressure on Hunter, but close enough that when he saw Jason Anderson gaining ground, Jett kicked it into actual race speed and passed Hunter and pulled away. Anderson did make the podium.

As for the rest of the 450 contenders, Chase Sexton fell in the first turn and got up in last place and charged up into contention only to fall again. Eli Tomac looked like the most likely competition for the Lawrences early in the moto, but fell in a slippery corner and decided to just finish the race. He was 10th. Cooper Webb finished fifth, but had a injured left hand that caused him in certain situations to just push down on his handlebars with the heel of his hand. A fifth wasn’t what he wanted, but it was the best he could do.

In the 250 West class R.J. Hampshire came into Denver with a 2-point lead over Levi Kitchen, who lost a big chuck of his 250 West points lead the week before. Obviously, R.Jj. and Levi were only interested in each other as they let Jo Shimoda ride away with the win as he is not a Championship threat with only one race left—the Salt Lake City 250 East/West Challenger. Kitchen held Hampshire off for second place, which will force the two contenders to go to Utah in a tie at 186 points apiece.
