Watch: Rafael Nadal arrives in Indian Wells and shares great news

on

Rafael Nadal has shared some great news as the 22-time Grand Slam champion has landed in Indian Wells and has already started practicing in the desert.

After starting his post-surgery comeback in the first week of the season in Brisbane, Nadal was again forced to take an injury break from tennis after sustaining a muscle tear in his third comeback match. Since suffering the injury in Brisbane, Nadal has been working on getting back to being fully healthy as the Spaniard has highlighted several times that he is not interested in competing unless he feels fully fit and ready to play.

Considering that Nadal has arrived in Indian Wells, it is a major indication that he has fully recovered from his injury and that he is set to compete in the upcoming Sunshine Double in Indian Wells and Miami.

Nadal first has an exhibition match before Indian Wells

On March 3rd, Nadal has an exhibition match scheduled with Carlos Alcaraz in Las Vegas. The match has been dubbed the “Netflix Slam” as it will be the first time that Netflix will be airing live a tennis match.

A couple of days ago, a cast of doubt was put on the Nadal and Alcaraz match after the 20-year-old Spaniard suffered an ankle injury in Rio de Janeiro and shortly after retired from the match. Luckily, the tests on Alcaraz’s ankle showed that it wasn’t anything too serious and that he should be ready to play in Las Vegas and Indian Wells.

After taking on Alcaraz in Las Vegas, Nadal will also return to Indian Wells after missing the tournament last year. When Nadal played in Indian Wells two years ago, he made his fifth final at the tournament but failed to win his fourth title in the desert after Taylor Fritz handed him a two-set defeat.
