Watch: Annoyed Danielle Collins slams Madrid spectator: ‘You come out and you play’

Danielle Collins got very annoyed with one spectator during her Madrid third-round match against Jaqueline Cristian as the American tennis star was heard telling someone to improve its behavior and be more respectful.

On Sunday, No. 13 seed Collins found herself down by a set to Cristian and she was serving at 1-1 in the second set and had a game point. After losing the point, Collins turned toward someone from the crowd and had something she wanted to say.

“You come out and you play. Come out here and do what I do, okay? Have a little more respect,” Collins was heard telling someone from the crowd.

After losing the first set and getting annoyed with one spectator, Collins managed to work her way back into the match and ultimately seal a 3-6 6-4 6-1 win over Cristian. For Collins – who won Miami and Charleston before coming to Madrid – it was her 15th consecutive win.

“I’ve been doing so well the last couple of weeks, I think the girls know that when they come out and play me, they gotta go for it. That certainly was taking place the last two matches, some big shots that I’ve had to counter, and be able to react quickly,” Collins said after her win.

“Ultimately, I had to serve and return very well in both of those matches to be able to try to get it done. It’s to be expected when you’ve had this many wins, that people are going to up their game. They have to, so I’m ready for it, as much as I can be.”

Today, Collins will be facing two-time Grand Slam champion Aryna Sabalenka for a place in the Madrid quarterfinal. Against Sabalenka, Collins has four defeats but she is playing the tennis of her life right now and it definitely won’t be easy for the Belarusian to win this time.
