Warzone Mobile’s Latest Update Is Filling Lobbies with Bots

on

Warzone Mobile was released to an eager reception just weeks ago, but players have already found issues with the handheld battle royale-based game. Set in Verdansk and boasting traditional multiplayer mechanics, Warzone Mobile generated a lot of hype very early on. It picked up more than 50 million pre-registrations before it launched globally, but since it dropped, more than a few issues have surfaced in the game.

Most recently, it was being debated online that Activision’s studios have broken the game’s bot behaviour. Before release, it was confirmed that bot players would be used to flesh out lobbies and improve matchmaking times, but they’ve seemingly gone off the rails since the season three update dropped in Call of Duty. Since then, bots have been making up the majority of the roster in some matches, and players are complaining that they’re sucking the fun out of the game.

Teething Issues

When Warzone Mobile was released, players quickly identified instabilities on Android devices. I’ve played Warzone Mobile on a Samsung S21 Ultra and can confirm that it’s not smooth sailing. Admittedly, that device has a few years on it, but it can run comparable titles, like Call of Duty Mobile, like a dream. Fewer issues have been reported on Apple devices, but it’s still far from being perfect.

If you’re wondering about your phone or tablet running it, we’ve broken down the minimum requirements for Warzone Mobile.

Following the most recent update that introduced season three, Warzone Mobile players have been brushing up against more bot players than they’d like. In multiplayer matches especially, there are far more bots than ‘normal’, with some players claiming that every opponent they’re matched with is AI-controlled. It completely decimates the point of playing the game, especially as these bot characters are traditionally quite unintelligent.

They’re being noticed less in the battle royale offering on the Warzone Mobile platform, but they’re still there. It’s widely expected Activision’s teams will release a patch soon to address this issue, but for the time being, players are pouring onto social media platforms in their droves to complain about the problem. It’s not ideal, as bot characters tend to roam without any goal in mind, shooting at nothing and failing to play anywhere close to the style of a real player.

It’s hugely frustrating, even if Warzone Mobile is a free-to-play game that can be downloaded and accessed in a matter of seconds.
