Jannik Sinner has dominated the opening three months of 2024! The Australian Open champion claimed his second notable title of the season, toppling Grigor Dimitrov 6-3, 6-1 in an hour and 13 minutes in the Miami Masters final. Thus, the Italian claimed his second Masters 1000 title, going a step further than a year ago and extending his impressive streak. Sinner is 22-1 in 2024 and looks good to take the ATP throne in the upcoming tournaments. Jannik tamed his strokes nicely and landed 15 winners and nine unforced errors. Grigor went for his shots, like in the previous matches, although he could not stay in touch with the ATP Race leader. The Bulgarian hit 18 winners and 23 unforced errors, losing ground from the baseline and missing equally from both wings.

The Italian landed 15 service winners and built the advantage in the shortest range up to four strokes, securing the win in that segment. Jannik lost ten points behind the initial shot, defending the only break point he faced in the early stages and mounting the pressure on the other side. Grigor dropped 44% of the points in his games, offering world no. 3 eight break chances and getting broken four times. The more experienced player made a reliable start, holding at love in the encounter’s first game. Sinner grabbed the second game with a service winner before Dimitrov produced another hold at love for 2-1. Grigor fired a forehand down the line winner in the fourth game, creating his only break chance. He missed a forehand, allowing Jannik to bring the game home and level the score at 2-2.

Sinner stepped in on the return in the fifth game, landing a forehand down the line winner and building the advantage. The Italian delivered a comfortable hold in the sixth game and earned more break chances at 4-2. Dimitrov denied them, remaining within one break deficit. Sinner forged a 5-3 lead and made another push on the return in game nine. Jannik landed a backhand down the line winner on a set point, notching his second break and closing the opener 6-3 after 42 minutes.

Carried by this boost, the Italian produced four comfortable holds in the second set, keeping the pressure on the other side. Dimitrov squandered a 40-15 lead in the fourth game and dropped serve after a backhand error, falling a set and a break down after an hour. Sinner cemented the break with a hold at 30 in game five, moving 4-1 up and closer to the finish line. Losing ground in those moments, Grigor played a terrible smash in the sixth game, experiencing another break and propelling Jannik 5-1 in front. The Italian served for the title in game seven and created three match points with an unreturned serve. Jannik seized the first with a backhand down the line winner, celebrating his second Masters 1000 title and the first in Miami from three finals.
