The competition, now in its second edition, offers a total prize purse of $2.5 million, with $425,000 going to the winner.

Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is an island country and city-state located in maritime Southeast Asia. Situated approximately 137 kilometers (85 miles) north of the equator, it is positioned off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. Singapore shares maritime borders with the Strait of Malacca to the west, the Singapore Strait to the south (along with the Riau Islands in Indonesia), and the South China Sea to the east. To the north, it is bordered by the Straits of Johor, along with the State of Johor in Malaysia.

The territory of Singapore comprises one main island, along with 63 satellite islands and islets, as well as one outlying islet. Over the years, the combined area of these land masses has expanded by approximately 25% due to extensive land reclamation projects.

Known for its high population density, Singapore has the second highest population density of any country globally. However, the city-state also boasts numerous green and recreational spaces as a result of meticulous urban planning.

Singapore is characterized by its multicultural population, with a diverse mix of ethnicities. In acknowledgment of the cultural identities of its major ethnic groups, the nation recognizes four official languages: English, Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil. English serves as the lingua franca, predominantly used in various public services.

The principle of multi-racialism is embedded in Singapore’s constitution and continues to influence national policies across various sectors such as education, housing, and politics.
