Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

Daniel Jeremiah 2024 NFL mock draft 4.0: Two trades; 49ers, Chiefs pick WRs to close Round 1 – NFL.com
PROJECTED TRADE WITH DENVER BRONCOS. No. 12) Taliese Fuaga. It seems like everyone is assuming the Eagles will be aggressive to go get a cornerback, which is a need, but they always are willing to invest in big humans in the first round. Fuaga is a perfect fit. He can start at right guard as a rookie and eventually replace Lane Johnson at right tackle whenever the veteran decides to walk away. Philadelphia hasn’t drafted a cornerback in Round 1 since 2002 (Lito Sheppard).

Why NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah suddenly changed his mind about Eagles’ draft target – NBCSP
This isn’t just Jeremiah guessing. This is based on numerous conversations he’s had with NFL scouts, coaches and officials as well as agents who represent some of the potential 1st-round picks He explained his methodology to Clark Wednesday. “It’s like a little peek behind the curtain,” he said. “People ask, ‘How can you say this team’s going to do this, this team’s going to do that?’ “It’s not like Howie’s telling me what they’re doing, but other teams that I talk to tell me who’s calling them and who’s talking to them and all that kind of jazz, and then I find out on the agent side of things who’s doing last-minute homework on players, and I’m like, ‘Well, wait a second, there’s no chance that guy’s going to be there where they pick, so why are they doing all this late homework on this kid?’ So then that’s when you start thinking, ‘OK, they’re coming up.’” It all makes sense. But what about that interview just a few days ago where Jeremiah was convinced the Eagles were going cornerback? “Can you un-air the video that we did last time?” Jeremiah said. “Go offensive lineman.”

Final 2024 NFL mock draft by Dane Brugler: Caleb Williams No. 1, five QBs in top 13 – The Athletic
16. Philadelphia Eagles (from SEA)*: Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State. This lined up perfectly for the Eagles to trade up and nab their right tackle of the future. Fuaga could provide immediate competition at guard before kicking over to right tackle, when needed, as the eventual successor to Lane Johnson.

NFL Draft Rumors: “The Eagles want to try to move up for a receiver” – BGN
Could the Eagles move up for Bowers? It’s not inconceivable that they could take a tight end since Goedert is older now than Zach Ertz was when his successor was drafted. But the thinking here is Bowers will also be off the board well before No. 22. And looking at the history of the position, is that a bet the Eagles really want to make? Genuine question: who is the latest first-round tight end selected that was truly worth it? Take a look at this list and let me know what you think in the comments. So, yeah, I’m not really buying this rumor. I am buying that the Eagles are looking to move up for an offensive tackle. Or cornerback.

22) Eagles: Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia: In our final Eagles-only mock draft on Wednesday we projected that the Eagles would trade up for Mims. If you would like to catch up on the logic for that pick, you may do so here. In this case, the Eagles stick and pick and land their guy.

2024 Eagles Draft Preview – Iggles Blitz
OT Amarius Mims – Georgia – 6-8, 340. If you want upside, Mims is your guy. He only started 8 games at UGA, but he could be a stud RT in the NFL. I saw one OL coach talking about him and the coach just kept saying “Guys aren’t supposed to look like that.” Mims is a good athlete. He is powerful, but also light on his feet. I don’t think he’s likely to slide to 22. If he does, the Eagles could take him.

2024 NFL Mock Draft: Albert Breer Predicts the First Round – SI
22. Philadelphia Eagles | Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia. I initially had Tyler Guyton here, but GM Howie Roseman’s Georgia “thing,” plus Mims standing out as a stronger run blocker, prompted me to flip my choice. I actually think the Eagles could get aggressive and move up for a higher-end tackle such as Fuaga. If it’s not a tackle, I’d say corner would be the best position to address in this spot.

2024 NFL draft: Mel Kiper’s Round 1 predictions, buzz, notes – ESPN+
Philadelphia Eagles: My pal Adam Schefter teased this earlier this week, but the Eagles, who own No. 22, are the team to watch in the cornerback market. Will they move up for Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo) or Terrion Arnold (Alabama)? They likely will have to get ahead of the Colts (No. 15) and Jaguars (No. 17) to guarantee them the guy they like, which could cost one of their second-rounders (Nos. 50 or 53). They don’t have a third-round pick.

A ‘bucket list opportunity:’ Brandon Graham to announce Eagles Day 2 draft pick in his hometown – PE.com
Brandon Graham will check an item off his bucket list on Friday when he announces one of the Eagles’ second-round selections in the 2024 NFL Draft. Why is this so special for the 36-year-old? This year’s draft is in his hometown – Detroit, Michigan. “When they asked me, that was a bucket list opportunity right there,” said Graham, who was presented with the idea a month ago. “I didn’t even think about doing it at home until they reached out to me, so that’s when I got super excited.” Graham was born and raised in the heart of Detroit. He attended Crockett High School, just blocks away from Campus Martius Park, the location of the draft stage where Graham will announce the Day 2 pick.

NFL to open training academy for young players in Australia – PFT
The NFL will play its first game in Brazil this September and that month will also see the league’s push to expand its international footprint move forward in Australia. The league announced on Thursday that a NFL Academy will open on Australia’s Gold Coast later this year. The academy will be housed at A.B. Paterson college and will offer young players between 12 and 18 a full-time education as well as intensive football training. The initiative also includes the construction of a high-performance facility that is set to open in 2026. Eagles left tackle Jordan Mailata is an Australian native and he will serve as an ambassador for the project.

Report: Cowboys meeting with Ezekiel Elliott’s representatives before the draft – Blogging The Boys
Possibly enter Elliott’s card to the deck. The Cowboys offense was missing an aggressive style to their running game so adding Elliott back into the mix could bring that element back. Despite having a down year in production, Elliott’s final year in Dallas ended with him rushing for 12 touchdowns. Pollard and Dowdle combined for just eight rushing touchdowns in 2023. While even the potential addition of Elliott hovers around the start of the draft, it shouldn’t preclude the Cowboys from taking a running back in the draft. The front office seems bent on correcting what was an area of weakness in 2023 by any means necessary, even if that means an eight-man battle between Dowdle, Elliott, Freeman, Deuce Vaughn, Hunter Luepke, Malik Davis Snoop Connor, and [insert rookie back name here].

Mark, drafting quarterbacks in every round is a crapshoot. The success rate (solid starter or above) is less than 40%. Yes, you have to have a good one. If you don’t, your franchise is just spinning its wheels. You might be able to put together a good year occasionally, but you can’t be competitive year-in and year-out without quality quarterback play. If I felt like there was a quarterback on Day 2 who had a chance to give me that, I would absolutely take the swing. For me, that guy in this draft is Spencer Rattler. There is enough talent that I would be willing to take the chance.

Report: The Washington Commanders are not picking up Jamin Davis’s fifth-year option – Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders have reportedly declined the fifth-year option for LB Jamin Davis. The deadline is May 2nd, and new GM Adam Peters and HC Dan Quinn weren’t expected to pick it up as they continue to evaluate and rebuild the roster. Davis would have made a fully guaranteed $14.483 million if the team had picked up the option, but now he will potentially hit free agency after the season. Jamin Davis was the #19 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. That was Ron Rivera’s second season as head coach in Washington. The Davis pick was seen as a reach by many at the time, and his slow start in the league fueled that criticism. Rivera was also criticized for taking Davis of OT Christian Darrisaw, who was selected by the Minnesota Vikings four picks later.

NFL Draft 2024: Final mock draft with Vikings and Commanders making big trades – SB Nation
Washington trading back into the first round. One of the worst-kept secrets around the league right now is that the Commanders have their eyes set on a trade back into the first round. It was an idea first floated to me by Adam Epstein on 910 the Fan in Richmond, and has been discussed by others, most recently Daniel Jeremiah. New general manager Adam Peters has a lot of draft capital at his disposal, with nine selections overall and and six picks in the top 100. While Washington has a lot of needs, adding a new tackle to help protect their rookie quarterback — in this scenario Jayden Daniels — would be a wise investment. With a pair of picks early in the second round, finding a trade partner to slide back a few spots might not be too difficult. The team they could trade with, as they do here? The Detroit Lions. While the draft is in Detroit, general manager Brad Holmes has opined that the organization could disappoint the hometown fans on Thursday night.
