Soon the big cleaning?

on

After the elimination in the round of 16 of the Champions League, the decision-makers of PSG are preparing to do a major cleaning within the Ile-de-France club.

For Paris Saint-Germain, eliminated in the knockout stages of the Champions League against Bayern Munich (0-1, 2-0), the time has already come to organize next season. And it is not the capital club’s 10-point lead over its runner-up, Olympique de Marseille, in the league that will cheer up the hearts of Parisians. Three months before the next summer transfer window, it already seems to be accepted that a major cleaning is needed in the Parisian locker room.

While the extension of Lionel Messi at the end of the contract is still uncertain, for the Brazilian superstar Neymar, the tendency would be rather to leave this summer. What suggest a showdown between the Parisian No. 10, under contract until June 2025 and determined to continue within the Ile-de-France club, and the Parisian management.

The comeback of the undesirables

According to ICrew, no less than six other players should be led to look elsewhere. In particular, Sergio Ramos whose lease expires next June. But also, the young Hugo Ekitike, Renato Sanches, Fabian Ruiz and Carlos Soler, four of the seven summer recruits of PSG. Juan Bernat, who is paying the price for the very good form of Nuno Mendes, could also benefit from an exit voucher from his leaders.

However, the work should not stop there for the champion of France. Indeed, apart from the players listed above, the Parisian team will have to deal with the return of their undesirables. Starting with Mauro Icardi. Back at a decent level in Galatasaray (9 goals, 6 assists, 14 matches), the Argentinian international and his high salary should not allow the Turkish club to secure his services permanently. Same story for Georginio Wijnaldum on loan to AS Roma, Leandro Paredes at Juventus and Julian Draxler at Benfica.
