Telesco selected two offensive lineman day 2 with a focus on the trenches

The Las Vegas Raiders had holes in their offensive line to fill in the NFL draft. The two positions on the line that needed bodies were tackle and guard, and seemed to be the focus on day 2.

At pick 44, they selected Jackson Powers-Johnson out of Oregon to play guard for the Raiders. He played center last year and was a standout at the Senior Bowl in January. At pick 77, they added tackle Delmar Glaze, who is another Senior Bowl standout. Both players add depth to the trenches and can play multiple positions on the line.

During his press conference yesterday, Telesco spoke about the importance of building in the trenches to help this football team.

“That was my thought when I originally arrived here. AP had the same thought, which is perfect. Telesco said, “We have work to do we know that. This is not like a total rebuild, but we do feel like it really has to start on the offensive and defensive line.”

Adding Christian Wilkins was another example of the franchise taking this approach. Winning inside the trenches is vital to winning football games in September when the season begins. We will see if they add more depth during day 3.
