Saudi club humiliate Messi: ‘We don’t want him’

on

Lionel Messi’s future is still the subject of speculation, but Saudi Arabian team boss Al-Tai says he is not interested in the World Cup winner.

Turki Al-Dabaan, president of Saudi club Al-Tai, has lashed out at Messi and said he will not sign the Argentina international for his club. La Pulga’s future remains uncertain, with his contract with PSG set to expire in the summer, but Al-Dabaan claim the striker’s performance in his side’s Champions League exit to Bayern Munich is the reason which he wouldn’t want to spend on the World Cup winner.

“I don’t want to recruit a saturated player to my team who watches the match from the stadium like Messi against Bayern Munich”, Al Dhabaan told Saudi TV SBC.

A powerless player

Messi and PSG have been heavily criticized after yet another disappointing exit from Europe’s most prestigious competition. Former Bavarian Philipp Lahm also said Messi looked “helpless and desperate” in the round of 16 tie which saw Bayern win 3-0 on aggregate. The 35-year-old has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, while speculation continues over a possible return to Barcelona or a move to MLS.
