The man, the myth, the legend. Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok is a Dota 2 player who has made multiple notable accomplishments in his career. That said, he has yet to win the International Championship, and even has a bigger goal to accomplish this year.

Big Dreams for Resolut1on

Currently inactive in the pro Dota 2 scene, Resolut1on announced his goal to make a comeback and even win the year’s two most significant tournaments: the Riyadh Masters 2024 and the International 2024 (TI12).

Despite his hiatus, Resolut1on remains a prominent figure within the Dota 2 community, regularly streaming and getting an invitation for the caster or analyst roles at Valve events. After all, his deep understanding and professional background in all things Dota 2, make him an excellent candidate.

However, for the long-time Reso fans, what truly distinguishes him is his knack for making the most unpredictable miracles.

Reso, the Miracle Worker

His latest noteworthy achievement was with Team Secret at TI11, a team that only made it to the championship through the Last Chance Qualifier as dark horses. Having joined Team Secret merely two months before TI11, many fans credited Resolut1on for the team’s surprisingly successful run, securing yet another first runner-up finish at the TI Championship.

This was not his first time reaching the grand finals of the TI Championship as he achieved a similar feat with Digital Chaos at TI6.

Another memorable instance was during TI7, when Resolut1on wasn’t even an active player at the event. Yet, when Team Empire needed a stand-in due to one of their players’ inability to attend, Resolut1on rose up to the challenge and got the team to seventh place. Considering Team Empire entered TI7 as the underdogs from the open qualifier, it’s certainly a miracle come true.

How can Resolut1on get back into the Dota 2 esports scene?

While it’s great to see a veteran player like Reso returning to the competitive scene, it might be a bit late to kickstart his journey. The Riyadh Masters 2024 kicks off in early July and most of the qualified teams are already confirmed, such as Team Falcons, BetBoom Team, Gaimin Gladiators, and Team Liquid.

A potential yet unconventional route for him could be to join one of the already qualified teams. This could be plausible, especially for teams like Gaimin Gladiators, which, despite having an invitation, have been underperforming since the start of the year and might be considering roster changes.

Let’s not forget that there are no penalties for roster changes in the ESL Pro Tour (EPT) circuit, which contrasts with the former Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) system that penalized teams that kick their players in between season.

Given Resolut1on’s versatility to play in both Eastern and Western European teams, it would not be too shocking if there are teams eyeing for Resolut1on’s talent. On paper, Resolut1on has proven to be a phenomenal offlane player in the scene. Perhaps just what a team like Gaimin Gladiators need, to fit into an everchanging Dota 2 meta.
