The Los Angeles Rams have selected defensive players with their first two picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. Interestingly enough Turner, according to some information below, may be impacting how LA is approaching the draft this year. It’s no suprise that players on LA’s roster are impacting their draft strategy, but it is interesting that despite landing on Turner last year that LA is adding to the defensive line early. Time will tell, but sure would be interesting to see if the defense can take any type of step forward even with Aaron Donald retiring.

How is the draft going for you so far? Or comment on any Rams’ information that you’d like! Thanks for checking out Turfshowtimes!

How DT Kobie Turner is Impacting Rams’ Draft Choices (si.com)

“Head coach Sean McVay opened up about Turner and how he gives them roster flexibility at the position.

“I think the best part about it is Kobie knows we just want Kobie to be Kobie. And he does have some position flex across the front, whether we’re in three-down spacing or whether we’re in some of our four-down nickel, sub spacing. He can play in a bunch of different areas. That does give us some flexibility relative to the different types of players that we like if maybe they’re a little bit more specific in terms of where we envision them so that’s a real blessing for us.

Last season for the Rams, Turner put together a special rookie year. He posted 57 total tackles and nine sacks to begin his mark on the NFL.”

Braden Fiske NFL Draft 2024: Scouting Report for Los Angeles Rams DL (bleacherreport)

“POSITIVES

— Good overall athlete with impressive movement skills and quickness for a defensive tackle.

— Very fast off the ball and can get penetration with his get-off when he times up the snap count.

— Sets up his pass-rush moves well by getting to square on the offensive lineman during the stem phase of the rush and has the agility, quickness and hip mobility to get back on an edge.

— Has a solid arm-over move that he can win with.

— Physical at the point of attack against the run and has shown the upper-body strength to get extension on blocks when he does land his hands.

NEGATIVES

— Has a habit of standing up out of his stance, which causes issues against offensive linemen with good leverage and double-teams/combo blocks against the run. Makes his bull rush inconsistent as a pass-rusher, too.

— Use of hands is a work in progress. Often late and wide with his hand placement, exposing his chest. Also impacts his ability to shed blocks and is currently limiting his pass-rush arsenal.”

Twitter reacts to Rams’ big trade up for Braden Fiske in Round 2 (ramswire)

“The Los Angeles Rams were aggressive on Day 2 of the NFL draft, trading up 13 spots from No. 52 overall to the 39th pick where they selected Florida State defensive tackle Braden Fiske. They gave up a fifth-rounder and 2025 second-round pick, which is a lot to move up just 13 spots in the order.

For that reason, many fans and analysts questioned the Rams despite a large number of fans applauding the selection.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to the Rams drafting Fiske with the 39th pick, adding to their defensive line after selecting his teammate, Jared Verse, in the first round on Thursday night.”

Ramsdom Fandom: TST Shadow Draft Exercise (By Blaine Grisak @bgrisakTST on Apr 25, 2024)

“Hey all!

Usually you guys see my posts on the front page of the site. However, wanted to post something here and see if everyone would be interested in doing an exercise over draft weekend. Over the past five years, I’ve done a “shadow draft”. In other words, when the Rams were on the clock, so was I. You can see last year’s result and other past results here: https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2023/5/2/23708441/los-angeles-rams-shadow-draft-2023-cam-smith

I figured this would be a fun exercise just to see the different paths of “my” draft class and the Rams’ real-life draft class. The idea here is very much not that I would do a better job drafting than the Snead and the Rams. This is simply a fun exercise in a process that requires a lot of luck.

Below are the rules:

1. Past Shadow Draft results do not carry over. Every year is a new year and you draft with the current Rams roster and needs in mind.

2. Follow along with whatever real-life trades Snead and the Rams made. So even though you might have wanted to trade down from 19 or would not have wanted to trade down from 52, you’re along for the ride.

3. Make my picks in real time when the Rams are on the clock and make your pick before the Rams’ selection was announced. Revisionist history is lame.

I’ll post my results in an article early next week…maybe Tuesday. Would love to see your guys’ results in the comment section and compare our classes!”
