Las Vegas has met with LSU linebacker

The Las Vegas Raiders have reportedly met with LSU linebacker Omar Speights.

Let’s take a closer look at Speights:

Size:

6-1, 235 pounds.

2023 Stats:
He spent one season at LSU and became an instant starter. He started 10 games and missed three due to injury. He had 70 tackles and had two games in which he registered double-digit tackles.

Career history:

He spent four seasons at Oregon State. Speights was a coaches All-Pac-12 selection in 2022 and was an freshman All-American in 2019. He led Oregon State with 83 tackles in 2022. He had 89 tackles in 2021.

Traits:

Speights has a good feel for the ball, especially in the run game. He is a solid tackler with good size. He has produced against the highest level of competition. He’s just a tough football player.

How he’d fit in with Raiders:

He seems like an Antonio Pierce-type who loves football. Pierce was a lower-rated college linebacker like Speights. He could be a nice player to develop at a position where the Raiders could use some youth.

What’s his draft range?

There are some teams interested and Speights could be a late-round pick. If not, he’d certainly have options as a high-priority undrafted free agent.
