With the 32nd pick in the Pride of Detroit Community Mock, the Kansas City Chiefs select…

We’ve reached the end of the first round in our 2024 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft (don’t worry, a second round is coming).

As Super Bowl champs, the Kansas City Chiefs will close out the opening round, hoping to pull off the difficult three-peat. It’s been an eventful offseason for the Chiefs, losing L’Jarius Sneed, signing Chris Jones to a mega-extension, and seeing young receiver Rashee Rice get into some legal trouble.

To help settle the waters in Kansas City, Pride of Detroit commenter 1951LION is acting as Chiefs general manager. Before we get into their pick, you can see the previous 31 selections in our 2024 POD Community Mock Draft tracker.

Now, with the 32nd pick in the Pride of Detroit Community Mock, the Kansas City Chiefs have selected Xavier Legette, receiver out of South Carolina.

Here’s 1951LION with the explanation:

“Making picks for Brett Veach and Andy Reid is quite the chore. Trying for a three-peat isn’t a piece of cake, especially with cornerback L’Jarius Sneed moving over to the Titans. Kansas City lists Nazeeh Johnson, the 5-foot-10, 199-pound defensive back at the safety position, but he was making waves at starting at cornerback alongside Sneed and Trent McDuffie in last year’s training camp before tearing his ACL.

“The defensive line, is set with Mike Danna, Chris Johnson, Karlaftis, Derrick Nnadi, and a bunch of others including Isaiah Buggs.

“The consensus is KC will be drafting offense, and I tend to agree, and with running back Jonathon Brooks still sitting there at the end of round one, he’s almost a sure bet to be a Chief.

“Does Jason Kelce need help, and should he be training his replacement? Ja’Tavion Sanders would be a fit but that would take snaps away from one of the team’s best weapons in Kelce.

“I’m leaning receiver and with the Marquese Brown signing this spring the room is getting crowded. Then Rashee Rice, gets in trouble racing and wrecking not one, but two expensive automobiles—a Corvette that he owns and a rental Lamborghini. Also, there were drugs reportedly found at the scene. The NFL could hand down way more than a hand slapping on this one.

“Xavier Worthy has been linked often to the Chiefs, but at 172 pounds, he’s just too thin to start in Rice’s place. Welcome the other Xavier, as in Xavier Legette.

“Legette has insane measurables. His low 4.3 speed in the 40-yard dash along with his size height combination isn’t something we have seen since DK Metcalf. Legette excels in making contested catches and using his physicality to gain yards after the catch, making him a potential deep threat and red zone target.

“With a RAS of 9.66, Lagette is finishing the first round of the draft with pick #32 for the KC Chiefs.”
