The United States Golf Association (USGA) has announced that Tiger Woods, a 15-time Major champion, has been granted and accepted a special exemption to compete in the 124th edition of the US Open, scheduled to take place from June 13th to 16th at Pinehurst in North Carolina. Woods, a three-time winner of the US Open (last triumphing in 2008), becomes the first player since 2021 (Phil Mickelson) to receive such a special exemption.

“The US Open holds a truly special place in golf, and it has played a significant role in shaping my career. I am honored to receive this privilege and couldn’t be more excited to play in this year’s tournament,” stated Woods. The California native will be making his 23rd career appearance at the US Open, one of the four Major championships in men’s golf.

On March 8, 2022, he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
