Barmore was set to enter the final year of his rookie deal.

The New England Patriots have locked up another one of their key core defensive players.

According to multiple reports, the Patriots have agreed on a four-year, $92 million extension with defensive tackle Christian Barmore. According to ESPN, the deal comes with $41.8 million in guaranteed money.

After battling injuries in 2022, Barmore was New England’s best overall player this past season posting a career-high 8.5 sacks to pair with 49 pressures. The 24-year old also took a major step forward in the run game — career-high 40 run stops — that turned him into a true three-down game wrecker for the Patriots defense.

The extension continues a trend this offseason for director of scouting Eliot Wolf and Jerod Mayo to lock up New England’s own best players as they become a “draft and develop” team. Barmore, who was set to enter the final year of his rookie deal, joins Kyle Dugger, Mike Onwenu and others to receive an extension with the team.

“One thing about Barmore, he’s one of those players, he’s developed here,” Mayo said earlier this offseason. “There were some questions coming out of college, obviously, you know his potential. He’s done a fantastic job really growing up. I think DeMarcus [Covington] and Joe Kim have done a good job really helping develop him.

“Once again, it goes back to — we want to keep our own. We want to keep our own players. We have had talks with Barmore. Hopefully, it works out.”
