The Rams and Seahawks went with defense, while the 49ers and Cardinals went with wide receivers with their top draft picks.

The NFC West was responsible for 38 of the 257 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. Both the Los Angeles Rams (10) and Arizona Cardinals (12) made double-digit selections, while the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks made eight picks apiece. With the futures of Brandon Aiyuk and even Deebo Samuel uncertain, the 49ers doubled down on wide receivers by taking Florida’s Ricky Pearsall in Round 1 and Arizona’s Jacob Cowing in Round 4. The Rams focused on life after Aaron Donald by drafting Florida State pass rusher Jared Verse, followed by a big trade-up for his Seminoles defensive tackle teammate Braden Fiske. That move cost the Rams their 2025 second-rounder.

While the Seahawks did not draft any receivers, running backs, or safeties, their NFC West rivals had a different approach. Miami safety Kameron Kinchens went to the Rams in the third round, Wake Forest’s Malik Mustapha was selected by the 49ers in the fourth, likewise Texas Tech’s Dadrion Taylor-Demerson to Arizona. The Rams took ex-Michigan star running back Blake Corum in the third, the Cardinals added Florida State’s Trey Benson in the same round, while the Niners added the speedy Isaac Guerendo out of Louisville in the fourth.
