The news of the new team came as NRG, Full Squad Gaming, and Samsung Galaxy announced a huge partnership for esports and mobile gaming. As part of this, the companies have announced several activations, including the Samsung x FSG Super Spring Break, the Full Squad College Gaming Tour, and the Samsig Game Jam.

“The launch of the NRG Samsung team, and this partnership with Samsung, marks a significant milestone in our journey. As a global brand at the forefront of the esports industry, NRG’s latest venture into mobile gaming through this partnership underscores our commitment to innovation and global reach. This marquee partnership is a testament to our resilience and leadership, showcasing our ability to not only navigate but also thrive in a competitive landscape. By harnessing Samsung’s technological prowess, together, we’re embarking on a journey to create unforgettable experiences, foster a global gaming community, and prove that the future of mobile esports is bright and boundless,” said Andy Miller, the CEO of NRG.

Will NRG Galaxy be a partnered team in the PUBG Mobile Super League (PMSL) Americas?

While the press release didn’t confirm that NRG Galaxy will be a part of the PMSL Americas, VentureBeat reported that the organization plans to compete in the league.

With NRG entering PUBG Mobile, it wouldn’t be unsurprising for the organization to be a part of the PMSL, perhaps as a partnered team. PUBG Mobile’s partnership program has brought many major esports orgs to invest in the game such as Furia Esports, Team Liquid, and more.

Tencent have set the PMSL Americas Spring 2024 to take place from May 22 to June 26 as an offline event at an undisclosed venue. Sixteen teams will be competing for a share of the $250,000 prize pool. These 16 include partnered teams and squads that have made it through the open qualifier.

As a PMSL-partnered team, organizations will receive certain benefits such as direct invites and also revenue-sharing. Unlike traditional franchised models, Tencent has said that partnered teams don’t have to pay a buy-in amount to be a part of the competition. Instead, the partnership rests on a mutually beneficial long-term collaboration. These leagues feeds into the global esports roadmap.

If NRG Galaxy is not a partnered team, they will have to play through the PMSL Americas Qualifiers, which are set to happen soon.
