‘Novak Djokovic inspires me a lot’, says ATP star

David Goffin has no doubts. Despite what the official papers say, Novak Djokovic is the first player in the world in the opinion of the Belgian. Djokovic finished the year in 5th place having lost 2000 Wimbledon points, two Majors and four Masters 1000s. The Serb lived through a 10-day saga in Australia in January and stole headlines from around the world. Novak returned from Melbourne and started the season in Dubai and Monte Carlo. The results did not accompany due to the lack of form and matches. Novak lost the Belgrade final to Andrey Rublev after losing steam in the decider, before leveling up for him in May. Djokovic lost a great match against Carlos Alcaraz in Madrid and won his 38th Masters 1000 trophy in Rome to build momentum for Roland Garros. The Serb let slip an epic clash against Rafael Nadal over four hours in the quarterfinals, losing the crown and turning his attention back to Wimbledon. Novak claimed his seventh Wimbledon crown and 21st Major title after beating Nick Kyrgios, lifting the trophy but losing 2,000 points on his tally. Thus, he was left out of the top-5 despite and lost a chance to fight for the ATP throne. Novak was unable to play Canada, Cincinnati and the US Open due to his vaccination status, missing out on the chance to win more titles. Djokovic lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Laver Cup before embracing an indoor winning streak. Novak’s third ATP title in 2022 came in Tel Aviv over Marin Cilic. A week later, the Serbian conquered the ATP 500 in Astana after beating Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Novak was the favorite in the Paris Masters, looking for his seventh crown in the French capital. Djokovic advanced to his 56th Masters 1000 final and faced young Holger Rune in a battle for the trophy.

Djokovic will play the World Tennis League 

“Novak Djokovic is the most resilient and the most consistent. A perfectionist who took tennis to another level. His diet, his physical work, his elasticity and his professionalism in each of the areas. I don’t think there’s a single thing he overlooks. Novak is ahead. Personally, he inspires me a lot” – Stefanos Tsitsipas said. The 21-time Grand Slam champion hoped to create amazing memories for fans before wishing them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. “Hello, tennis fans around the world. A big tennis event is coming up in Dubai — World Tennis League,” Djokovic said.
