NJPW Grosses $50 Million For 2019 Making It Their Most Successful Year In History

on

According to the Wrestling Observer, Bushiroad’s recently released annual report reveals that New Japan Pro Wrestling earned a whopping $50 million over the calendar year (up over 10% from last year), marking it as the most successful year in the promotion’s history. Live attendance from house shows and other events is also up for the sixth year in a row. NJPW actually ran fewer events this year, but most of the venues were much bigger. Merchandise sales dropped overseas after January due to the lack of the top U.S. draws. The company’s streaming service, New Japan World, has over 100,000 subscribers, which accounted for a $10 million net.

The reported plan for NJPW in 2020 is to continue to run larger arena shows. Bushiroad is hoping for at least a 12% growth.
