News on Andrade Retaining the US Title, Heat on Matt Riddle, And Aleister Black Nearly Facing Brock Lesnar

on

The idea to keep the US title on Andrade despite violating the WWE Wellness Policy was a Paul Heyman move. Heyman has plans going forward to make Andrade one of Monday Night Raw’s key players and felt that having him lose the title this early in his feud with Humberto Carrillo would be the wrong decision for both men.

Andrade is on a list of wrestlers that Heyman is pushing heavily that also includes Drew McIntyre, Aleister Black, and The Viking Raiders. Heyman thinks so highly of Drew McIntyre and Aleister Black that both wrestlers were being considered for the match with WWE champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.

There is a lot of heat on Matt Riddle in the WWE right now. His short performance in the WWE Royal Rumble was viewed as a punishment for whatever caused management to sour on him. It’s unknown whether his issues stem primarily from his altercation with Brock Lesnar before the Rumble or if he’s rubbing someone the wrong way. The call to not push Riddle further and to have him eliminated quickly in the Rumble was a Vince McMahon decision. It was originally speculated that his quick exit from the Rumble was just a way to give Baron Corbin more heat, but that appears not to be the case.
