PIERCE BROWN MOTIVATION TO GRAB HIS FIRST WIN, INTERVIEW

Aboard his Troy Lee Designs Red Bull GasGas 250, Pierce Brown has had somewhat a quiet 2024 season to date. However, his quietness has led to third in the 250 East Coast championship! While consistency has been key for Brown, he knows he now needs wins and podiums to up his chances of taking this title. Finishing fourth overall at Lucas Oil Stadium with a strong second place in the final main, Pierce proved he has the speed. Eleven points down from championship leader Cameron McAdoo, and nine points behind Tom Vialle in second, this series should go down to the wire. We spoke to the Utah native trackside in Lucas Oil Stadium.

PIERCE, THIS IS MEANT AS A COMPLIMENT. I AM SHOCKED YOU HAVE NOT WON A RACE YET.  IT SEEMS THAT YOU HAVE EVERYTHING TO DO THAT, EXCEPT FOR STARTS.   That has been the tale of the season. We have had the speed. I feel like we have had everything it takes to get that first win, but we just have not had the starts. We did our homework this past week. We did countless starts trying to figure out what we were missing. I did take a good start in the final main, so that was going in the right direction at least.

Pierce Brown was able to finish second in the third main at Indianapolis.

DO YOU FIND YOU ENJOY THE TRIPLE CROWN FORMAT OR PREFER THE TRADITIONAL MAIN EVENT? After you break it down, I believe the lap count is about the same, but the night of a Triple Crown is a lot harder on you physically. Still, I believe I am one of the fittest guys in the class, so that plays in my favor. In the past years, Triple Crowns have been both good and not good, so I don’t know. I have not had a full night where we put it together, but in the past years, I have not been third in the points, so this year we figured something out on that end, and I’ve found that consistency is about as important as winning.

AS YOU SAID, YOU ARE THIRD IN POINTS. YOU STILL HAVE SOME OPPORTUNITIES HERE.  Yes, definitely; we are knocking on the door. We are five out, so all it takes is just that win. After that, I am hoping the confidence level is into more and more wins, and podiums, which has been the goal since we started the season. Obviously, we have not gotten that quite yet, but we are here and healthy, so we are going to keep fighting!

Building momentum Pierce Brown is keeping himself in the hunt.

IT SEEMS LIKE EVERY ROUND OF THE 250 EAST COAST SUPERCROSS SERIES HAS SEEN SOME CHAOS. It has been chaos. It has been a class of chaos at every round so far.  It shows whoever has made the least number of mistakes. We are four rounds in, and everybody is all over the place. A Triple Crown will always shake some stuff up, and I am always excited for them.

WE TALKED ABOUT STARTS ALREADY BUT IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU HAVE BEEN WORKING ON, WHETHER IT IS YOURSELF OR THE BIKE?   We have been working on the bike still. It is in a good spot. Obviously, it could be better; just like everything. So, at this point, it is just sharpening the tools and putting in the work. It is not one thing that we have been working on, it is just keeping everything sharp, so we come ready every weekend.

Looking for his first win of the year Brown has the potential to get it done.

LET’S FINISH WITH YOUR THOUGHTS AFTER THE INDY SUPERCROSS? It would have been much better had I not crashed in the first two mains! The first main was especially difficult coming back from my crash. My crash in the main event two wasn’t as bad, and I could come up to fourth by the checkers. Obviously, my second place in the final races was my best finish. I was trying to catch Cameron McAdoo)for a while, but he had built up too big of a lead. So, the second place there was okay, but I want wins.
