Miles Russell secured a remarkable 20th place tie at the LECOM Suncoast Classic, a Korn Ferry Tour event held over the past weekend at Lakewood Ranch in Florida.
Many may perceive this as just another sports headline, but there are indeed some significant details to consider.
At 15 years old, Miles Russell has set an unprecedented record as the youngest player to ever place in the top 20 of a Korn Ferry Tour event (the PGA Tour’s satellite circuit made its debut in 1990).
Hailing from Jacksonville Beach, the young talent capped off his weekend with a fourth-round score of 66, jumping 28 positions and securing a tee time for the upcoming Veritex Bank Championship, another Korn Ferry Tour event set to take place next weekend at Rangers Park in Arlington, Texas.
What sets Russell apart is not just his performance but also his background. This isn’t his first rodeo in a professional tournament; he is the 2023 Player of the Year for the American Junior Golf Association.
Last year, he clinched victory in two significant tournaments: the Junior PGA Championship and the Junior Players Championship (played on the same course as the major tournament).
