In a tournament that has already seen Italian success three times, the Italians are seeking their first triumph on the DP World Tour 2024. From February 22nd to 25th in Nairobi, seven Italians will participate in the Magical Kenya Open. Alongside Guido Migliozzi and Edoardo Molinari, winners of the tournament in 2019 and 2007 respectively, there will also be Renato Paratore, Filippo Celli, Andrea Pavan, Lorenzo Scalise, and Pietro Bovari. Missing from the lineup at the Muthaiga Golf Club will be Spanish player Jorge Campillo, who will be competing in the Mexico Open on the PGA Tour during the same days and thus unable to defend his title from 2023. However, there will be four past winners in the field. In addition to Migliozzi and Edoardo Molinari, we have Chinese player Ashun Wu (2022) and South African Justin Harding (2021). The event, now in its 55th edition, joined the DP World Tour calendar in 2019, the same year Migliozzi achieved his victory. Edo Molinari and Lorenzo Gagli (2018) won the competition when it was part of the Challenge Tour, the second European men’s circuit. The tournament’s history also includes the achievements of three Major champions: Severiano Ballesteros (1978), Ian Woosnam (1986), and Trevor Immelman (2000).
Kenya Open, schedule
Regarding the Italians with full status on the DP World Tour 2024, Francesco Molinari (competing in Mexico), Matteo Manassero, and Francesco Laporta will not be part of the challenge in Kenya. The latter two have decided to take a break in preparation for the upcoming events in South Africa. Instead, Bovari will be present, participating in his third professional tournament on the major tour, as he usually competes on the Challenge Tour. It’s an opportunity not to be missed for the Italians, as the competition won’t feature top-tier players and will offer a prize pool of $2,500,000, with $425,000 going to the winner.

This includes cold, snow-capped mountaintops such as Batian, Nelion, and Point Lenana on Mount Kenya, surrounded by vast forests, wildlife, and fertile agricultural regions. Additionally, there are temperate climates found in western and rift valley counties, transitioning to dry, less fertile arid and semi-arid areas, and ultimately to absolute deserts like the Chalbi Desert and Nyiri Desert.
